But everone has been very nice here, and they helped us get set up for the night last night.

Our official welcome to Pusan was some lovely Korean ladies waving CM2007 signs, followed by an Aussie singalong on our bus. The Aussie men love to sing much more than American men. THey have strong voices. It was great fun (probably even more fun if you're not jet lagged). I don't know if I'll have more time to write this week, but I'll try to if I have a chance!

So far we've seen people coming to CM07 from east asia, singapore, australia, jamaica, botswana, zimbabwe and of course Korea since arriving!

The Gathering...

People all over the world are flying, driving, boating, walking or swimming their way to CM07. Just 10 more days and we will be together in Busan Korea celebrating the Lord's goodness and believing Him together for the campuses of the World!

However, in order for our Korean brothers and sisters to greet you, and get you to your housing assignment we desperately need to make sure that each participant's information is correct on the Online Registration System. This is a reminder that this information is due today!

The Flight Arrival and Departure information for each participant must be updated in the CM2007 Online Registration System by Wednesday June 20th. This information must include your final airport arrival destination in Korea (for example enter ICN for Seoul Incheon airport, or PUS for Pusan Gimhei airport). Arrival date, time, airline and flight number must all also be input. Korea CCC desperately needs this information immediately in order to prepare transportation to CM2007 for participants upon arrival.

NOTE: If this information is not provided or is incorrect, we can not guarantee transportation to the BEXCO conference site and you may be responsible for your own transport at your own expense.

following the leader

During my deovtional time today I read a couple verses I wanted to share here. Sometimes we are looking for direction, and it seems impossible to do the things God has called us to do. He says, "Go this way" but we see an ocean of impossibility between us and his direction.

One of the Psalmists writes,

"Your path led through the sea,
your way through the mighty waters,
though your footprints were not seen.
You led your people like a flock by the hand of Moses and Aaron." (Psalm 77:19-20)

He can lead us through those impossible places, because he can cause any ocean in our way to become dry land. We just have to trust him, and follow!

ON THE GLOBAL ROAD

At left you will find a photo of my good buddy, Keith Bubalo. We used to do ministry together in a large country that I can't mention right now, and we haven't seen each other for three years.

Their names are Chin Leng and Lisa.

I love these guys. In addition to being unfailingly nice, they are also godly, enjoyable people to be around. And, Chin Leng is very good at ping pong. I knew they had moved home to Singapore around the same time that we moved home to the USA from living overseas, but I wasn't sure where they were anymore. I had even asked a friend who worked in Singapore just last week if he knew them (he didn't).

BUT, here's the cool thing: Chin Leng and Lisa are coming to CM07! Which means I will get to see them in Korea! I am really excited about this.

It brings up this problem, though. How will I find them among the THOUSANDS of people at the Bexco Arena? In fact, multiple people have said they will see me in Korea. But how will I find them? I'm just not sure.

So I've come up with some possible solutions to help you find me.

1) I will bring a pet hawk. This way, if you are looking for me, you can ask people, "Have you seen Matt Mikalatos?" "I don't know who that is," they will say. "The guy with the hawk." "Oh yeah, there he is on the other side of the arena." Every once a while I can make the hawk fly up into the air and circle around and then come back to me so you can see where I am sitting.

2) Wear distinctive clothing. If you have an outfit that no one else has, bring it along. Just remember that if it is really large and bulky, you might not have room to pack it. Like if you are bringing an outfit that makes you look like a giant piece of cheese.

3) Hire a ninja. Not only are ninja trained to quickly scan a crowd, they can do it quietly so that they don't disturb anyone who is paying attention to the conference. Of course, if you're like me you probably don't have the money to hire a ninja. But maybe the conference will make some complimentary ninja available for all of us to share.

That's all I've come up with so far. I'm sure you all have some better ideas. Feel free to share them here in the comments section. In the meantime, I'll be the guy in the cheese suit with the pet hawk, sitting next to the ninja.

Cool CM07 websites

Well, I've been digging around over on the CM07 website and they've been adding a lot of cool things over there. As the days went by and the deadlines were getting closer, I began to think that I really shouldn’t go. Last Sunday after one more “no” response, I decided to send an email in desperation to Katia, the co-national campus director in Brazil, telling her about my challenges and my doubts. She responded by motivating me to continue working on it. She told me that I needed to expect a miracle to come very quickly.

Early Monday morning, I decided to send a few more emails to people I hadn’t seen in a long time. One of them responded the same day saying he was going to support me. I expected him to give me about $45, and I was very happy for this. Wednesday, the same person wrote to me and told me that he was praying and that God had put it on his heart to give all that I was lacking.

So I sent another email, saying that what I lacked was a lot of money. He responded saying “Friend, I understand that you need $1,200. I’m convinced that it’s God’s will! I’m going to invest!” I was unable to talk. I was in shock and couldn't say anything sitting there in front of my computer. God had done a miracle.

Then on Thursday I got a phone call from a supporter who felt that it was God’s will that they invest in my support for Korea. The thing is, I never asked my supporters to help financially with Korea because I just asked them to support a summer project in January. They knew about the project and have been involved through prayer. But I had decided that I wouldn’t ask them for support. But he said he’d been praying and studying The Revelation and reading the passage that says, “After this I looked and before me was a great multitude that no one could count…shouting with one voice 'Salvation belongs to our God.'” After he read this passage, he was sure that God was telling him to invest in my trip to Korea even though I hadn’t asked. He deposited $300.

In 2 days God gave me $1,500 – more than I needed! I know that He is powerful to do infinitely more! I was ashamed before God for my lack of faith, but I’m learning one more time to trust Him for everything. I know that he will continue to do this in the lives of all of us.

Lucélia Oliveira,

campus staff

Rio de Janero, Brazil

If you would like to the Refresh e-mail, send an email to CM2007@ccci.org with the subject line "CM2007 REFRESH - SUBSCRIBE".

Korean Food (part one)

This is Sarah Son. I personally believe that God is the answer for those problems; it means that all people need to know and believe in the true God. I praise the Lord for letting me be part of his mission.

I’m so blessed that God is allowing me to join CM2007. Through this conference I hope that God will show me how I can reach my people more effectively. To join this conference I have to raise $1000. Through me I thought it was impossible to get such a big amount of money, but I remembered that Luke 1:37 says that nothing is impossible with God. So It was a challenge for me to trust God.

As I met with one couple, they asked me a lot about my mission. But they supported me more than I ever expected. So through faith I could do it because God strengthened me, as in Philippians 4:13; and God has given me almost enough money to join this great conference. At last I still keep thanking God and praising Him that I could learn a lot from Him in order to make me more effective in doing his work.

Ms. Ratanak is one of thousands of our spiritual siblings who will be joining us in Korea. Praise God for her and her supporters!

If you would like to get the CM07 Refresh e-mail updates, send an email to CM2007@ccci.org As I had previously promised, I immediately started to ask her about whether or not there would be giant inflatable globes at CM07.

HER RESPONSE: "Probably."

This is good news, indeed. It's an amazing vision of CM07, and an incredible story of what the Lord has been doing around the world in days past:

Dear Friends,

Last saturday during the discussion about CM 2007 my mind instantly raced to a time in 2002 when God gave me a picture that I can't forget. It was a "changed me" moment.

In l980 my husband Dave and I were both students on a summer project in Poland. This was only the 2nd year that summer projects existed in Poland and the very early days in all of Eastern Europe. We traveled as tourists and couldn't even acknowledge other teams if we crossed paths with them. That was the year that one of our teams went to the post office to pick up the Jesus Film only to be apprehended by the police and thrown out of the country. We hid up in the mountains and trained the underground church in basic biblical principles - How to understand God's love and forgiveness, How to be sure you are a Christian, How to walk in the power of the Holy Spirit, etc. My small group included 2 nuns. Imagine me, this young, unseasoned little college student training nuns! I was over my head but God showed up and enabled me to do it anyway.

Fast forward 22 years later. Dave and I were married and on staff in Hungary. That year EE/Russia had their AOA staff training at Lake Balaton, Hungary. There I stood in a huge room with over a thousand CCC staff. This was the very first year that the national staff outnumbered the americans. Did I hear that right? The national staff OUTNUMBERED the americans for the very first time. There we all were - worshipping along side each other - each in our own languages - and the sound was incredible - like nothing I can even attempt to explain. A combination of Hungarian, Romanian, Bulgarian, Slovakian, Slovenian, Ukranian, Russian, Albanian, Czek, Moldovan, Croatian, Serbian, Macedonian, and the list goes on.................. My overwhelming thought was - Oh my goodness, a few years ago none of this existed. We were hiding up in the mountains secretly helping to build up the underground church and look at what God has done!!!!!!!! This must be the closest thing I will ever see of what heaven will be like - every tribe and tongue worshipping the living God along side each other. What a priveledge to be here and see what God is doing and a picture of what will come!!!!!

I can't describe what happened to me in that moment. It was like God chose to give me a tiny glimpse into a world that exists beyond this world. The picture was powerful - too much for words.

Somehow I think that this is what our students will experience at CM2007. In the midst of all the logistics that can feel overwhelming I believe that God will powerfully show Himself and deeply change and challenge this generation of students. Will we ever fully comprehend the far reaching effects of CM2007? - Only in heaven...........

Bye for now, Cindy

Frequently Asked Questions about CM 2007 brought to you by Rhett and Link

The talented Rhett and Link have brought some entertaining answers to your deepest, most secret questions about CM07. We looked at all our options carefully and chose the video from Hong Kong. We liked the clips from the last enormous event in Korea in 1974. I particularly liked the footage of people throwing around an immense inflatable globe.

IMPORTANT QUESTION: Will we get to play with enormous inflatable globes this summer? I will try to find out the answer to that question.

We also liked that it had an invitation from the national director of Korea on it. We feel this is one of the most important parts of CM2007, that we're being invited by the ministry of South Korea to join them and the rest of the world.

Anyway... our whole region is excited about CM2007. Students are asking which summer projects will let them go to Korea. Staff are trying to get a summer placement that allows them to go to Korea.

By the way, if you know for sure you are coming, you can register now!

Collide

Tonight is the start of our winter conference for our region. You'll get the idea!

new CM2007 site

The English language CM2007 site has been upgraded. There were about fifty people in our church. And then one day a group of Ukranians came and joined our church. They had just arrived from the Ukraine, and only one of them spoke English, but they were Christians, and they were looking for a church.

I was amazed by these people. They were young (maybe in their twenties) and they had great stories about escaping their country to find freedom. Freedom to worship God, that's what they wanted. And they were willing to risk their lives to find it. One of them, I remember, had slipped into a river to get past a guard house, and they shot at him. He talked about the bullets moving past him under the water.

The first night they came to our church, we were singing songs and they just sat in the back, quiet. They didn't know the words. Then we sang "Amazing Grace". And they sang it in Ukranian. I could tell by their strong voices how glad they were to sing to God in our little church, how happy they were to be free to sing as loud as they pleased, and not have to worry about the neighbors or the government.

Most Americans know two or three verses of "Amazing Grace" and we sang them all. And then the Ukranians kept singing, more and more verses, they just wanted to keep singing. Then they sang other songs, trying to find ones we all knew so that we could sing along in English.

We sang for a long time. I don't remember how long, but I do remember that I didn't want to stop. I remember one of the Ukranian girls crying when we were done. And for the first time in my life I understood that God collected praises in every language of the world.

This is one of the reasons I am excited about CM2007. I can't wait to stand with brothers and sisters from around the world and sing the praises of Jesus Christ in a hundred languages. Not because of the size of the crowd, but because of the size of our God.

I hope to see you there. And even if we don't meet, I hope we can sing together.

New video

Check out this video.

I particularly like that last line.
